This is the fourth edition of “Daily Fantasy WNBA Lineup Advice – The Scales”
If you haven’t turned a profit yet while reading this, let me know where things are going wrong for you and I will answer all questions personally. Also,
I am happy to announce that “The Scales”, as well as other Root members, will be starting soon for the upcoming NFL season, starting September 10th. (Don’t pick up Zeke the Beat yet)
Let’s get to this sexy, not so sexy, two-game WNBA Slate and weigh the scales!
New York Liberty @ Atlanta Dream – 7:30 EST
The Liberty are currently 6th in the WNBA overall standings and 3rd in conference play. The Dream are just outside playoff contention in 9th place and 5th in conference play. Both teams are 1-1 on the season series.
While taking a look at the advanced stats, these two teams struggle with allowing teams to get to the line. Both squads are second and third in the association, allowing over 21% of total opponent points from the free throw line. That’s ideal for players who get to the line, such as, Tina Charles ($8500) Bria Holmes ($3200) and Shavonte Zellous ($4600).
New York leads the league in team percentage of point allowance in 3’s with 24.5%. But, when you take a closer look at the advanced stats, Atlanta is at a league low 16.5% of total points scored from the arc. That stat could mean something if Tiffany Hayes ($5800), team leader in 3-point percentage, can get going early and often this game.
On the Dream side, Elizabeth Williams ($6000) has had a tough job playing against bigger centers and her last two performances vs New York does not help sway that statement. If you think she is going be in foul trouble, pivot to the guards.
Bria Hartley – $4500 (26.8% usage rate vs Atlanta)
Tina Charles – $8500 (19 pts, 11 reb avg vs. Atlanta)
Kiah Stokes – $4100 (4.5 pts, 9 reb avg vs. Atlanta)
Sugar Rodgers – $4400 (13 pts, 6 reb avg vs Atlanta)
Brittney Sykes – $6700 (16.5 pts, 8 reb avg vs New York)
SCALES TIP TO ATLANTA
Los Angeles Sparks @ Minnesota Lynx – 8 EST
If you were tuning in to your television when the Lynx put a beat-down on the Sparks, you probably cried a little. Especially, if you were a Sparks fan like myself. Nevertheless, it was a cashing day if you didn’t have Candace Parker.
Parker ($8700) went into foul trouble early in the game and was never able to get it going. Ideally, this was probably the biggest bust in WNBA we’ve had all season, but don’t let that deter you from her tonight.
Noteworthy, The Lynx were able to out-rebound the already struggling Sparks 39-28 last game.
Over the past few weeks, We have seen Parker has been on an absolute tear lately (23, 24, 21 points) and scoring at minimum of 38 FP for the last eight games. Her price tag puts her at around 43.5 FP needed to hit her value which, she has hit six times this season.
Lindsey Whalen (O) for Minnesota is out with a hand injury, so, insert Renee Montgomery in the starting mix. Montgomery ($4100) put on a show from the bench the prior meeting with 20 points. Seimone Augustus ($5000) scored 16 points.
If you have plans to play Sylvia Fowles ($8900) and Nneka Ogwumike ($7900) tonight, you have a good chance of scoring over 80 fantasy points with those two alone, especially, after these two combined for over 90 last game.
Interesting Figures and Facts
-Los Angeles and Minnesota have both clinched playoff spots
-Minnesota is the top team in defensive rebound percentage (78.5%)
-Sparks are 6-6 this season on the road
-Lynx are undefeated in conference play (11-0)
